.Roam

.Roam for Lotus® Domino® and Microsoft SQL

Mobilise your databases with push technology from LAN2LAN

BlackBerry® is now the leading mobile e–mail solution in the marketplace. Domino and MS Exchange users have already benefited from having mail and calendar ‘pushed’ to them wirelessly. The next challenge is to mobilise corporate applications in the same way. Whilst browser based access to data is suitable for occasional connectivity and less important information, the issue for ‘mission critical’ applications is to guarantee access 100% of the time.

When delivering applications via browser, the access to back-end data is completely dependant upon a GPRS/3G/WiFi© signal - no signal means no application.

LAN2LAN, an IBM Premier Business Partner and Microsoft Gold Partner, in partnership with Flowfinity Wireless, has developed .Roam. This connector utilises the BlackBerry push technology to deliver data or subsets of databases to a local cache on the BlackBerry device. .Roam goes way beyond simple HTTP requests to your data, to enable real or near time wireless replication between your database servers and your BlackBerry users.

Your data, which may normally be viewed with a Lotus Notes or Microsoft client, will automatically be extracted for each user, tailored for the BlackBerry screen and pushed to their BlackBerry device. Multiple databases and views can be opened simultaneously, to allow multi-tasking and a richer user experience. This data can be read, edited or appended and submitted back to the database server(s), via wireless, two way, encrypted replication.

.Roam is perfect for users who require mobile access to data several times a day, in real or near time to review and update views/documents that have been “pushed” to them automatically.
.Roam allows you to select any database that you wish to mobilise, and then choose which forms and fields you would like to be available via your BlackBerry.
.Roam converts the required design elements to XML and Java.
.Roam overcomes the issues associated with delivering mobile applications over wireless networks, it:

  • Deploys your core applications to mobile devices quickly and at low cost
  • Allows users to function even when out of coverage
  • Prevents data loss or data validation between server and client
  • Provides a secure, end to end, delivery mechanism
  • Delivers an easy to use interface with minimal latency

In short, the system is available anywhere and at any time, it is quick and easy to use with no risk of lost data.

Maximise your investment in BlackBerry by using LAN2LAN’s off–the–shelf connector to mobilise any Lotus Domino or SQL Server application. Indeed .Roam can be used with almost any back–end data source, to push this data to your BlackBerry mobile device.

LAN2LAN are currently developing a MS Windows Mobile version of .Roam.
